Save Utah - Enforce existing immigration law!

It Is Better To Do Something

Is it better to have a good law enacted for a short period of time or have no law enacted for an indefinite period of time? My grandfather always told me that it is better to do something and get it wrong, then be wrong for doing nothing. The West Valley City council, particularly the mayor seems content to do nothing. And he is wrong! The mayor states that this is not a city problem. Really? It seems pretty local to me. To outright ignore a letter from respected Utah Legislator Ron Bieglow that acknowledges that cities can and should do something is an outrage! For someone to whine that to enact any such local laws is discrimination is partially right. Who is being discriminated against now? Why do illegals have more rights than legal citizens. Oh and pardon me, we should now refer to them as "undocumented immigrants?" Please. Illegal! Any other label is inappropriate!

I am all for being a humanitarian and helping people when I can, but turning a blind eye to the very fact that these ILLEGALS are taking food and resources away from poor legal citizens is what is inhumane! The system is flawed. Some elected officials are out of touch with constituents, making decisions with our tax money that make no sense...and that is right here in our own backyards. Ok, I am emotional. This issue is very emotional, but that is why it is all that more important that we represent our actions based on facts and documented evidence. We need your help! We need neighborhood journalists to take pictures, write articles, talk to other concerned citizens. The majority should not be silent anymore. Now if you can show me evidence that illegals bring a net positive to our society, then send me your proof and I will gladly share it. I would guess that you might more easily find proof a $3 bill existed, but hey, I am willing to be fair.

The bottom line is that it is not a federal problem, it is an everyone problem. Anything not prohibited by the federal government is open to the state to enforce and anything not prohibited by the state, can be enforced or enacted by the cities. There are things cities can do, but are not. West Valley mayor won't even open up a public dialogue because you know he would be forced to do something and that would be just too much trouble. He is busy balancing the budget and fixing potholes...oh wait, he isn't doing that either! Together we can make a difference!
